Capsule Endoscopy in Special Circumstances

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Since its introduction to the clinical field in 2001, more than 1.5 million small bowel capsules had been used in a decade world widely. Several clinically important concerns with capsule endoscopy have been reported, but capsule retention in the small intestine is the only relevant complication. Imperfect test results due to functional or mechanical errors of the capsule are also one of the issues related to the usefulness of the capsule [1]. Therefore, it is necessary to examine various test conditions to predict and prevent possible complications or accidents, such as capsule retention and malfunctions.
