Helicobacter pylori-Related Diseases

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

When Helicobacter pylori colonizes the gastric mucosa, it continuously damages the mucosa, leading to various diseases, including acute and chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer diseases, gastric adenocarcinoma, and gastric marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of MALT type (MALT lymphoma). The diverse pathologic outcomes primarily arise from a combination of interactions between the host, bacterial virulence, and environmental factors. Additionally, H. pylori is responsible for causing extra-gastric diseases, including idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). This chapter will focus on discussing H. pylori-related diseases.
