Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a kind of feeding method providing long-term enteral nutritional support. Because PEG placement is a common endoscopic procedure, it is important to be aware of its indications and contraindications. PEG tube insertion is relatively a safe procedure. However, there are possible minor and major complications. Understanding the pre-, intra- and post-procedural process and treatment is of far importance to improve the quality of life in patient with PEG placement. Several placement methods of percutaneous PEG tube have been used.
