Abstract
A 20-year-old male soldier was hospitalized for reddish urine after severe military disciplinary punishment involving 600 repetitive sit-ups and stand-ups performed with a large log on his shoulders. He reported severe pain and tenderness in both thighs. Blood chemical analysis showed markedly elevated levels of lactate dehydrogenase and serum creatine phosphokinase. Acute renal failure secondary to rhabdomyolysis was diagnosed, and Tc-99m HDP whole-body scintigraphy was obtained to define the distribution of muscle injury.
