THE EFFECTS OF DEXAMETHASONE IN PRE AND POST OPERATIVE SURGERY

Abstract

Dexamethasone is reported to be a potent synthetic member of the glucocorticoid class of steroid drugs. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant. Dexamethasone has been used before, during and after surgery. In this paper, extensive review of the role of dexamethasone before, during and after the surgery will be performed using in vivo and clinisal studies. Clinical implications of dexamethasone will be also conduced.
