Abstract

Trichoepithelioma is a benign tumor that arises from hair follicles and includes aggregations of basaloid cells arranged in a cribriform or lacelike reticular pattern, conspicuous hair germs, follicular papillae, small horn cysts, and fibrotic stroma. A solitary trichoepithelioma is a nonhereditary tumor and mostly occurs on the face. We describe a rare case of trichoepithelioma arising from facial scar tissue, which to our knowledge is the first to be documented. Moreover, as we know, the skin lesions arising in scar tissue are almost malignancies such as squamous cell carcinoma or basal cell carcinoma. However, this is a benign tumor arising from scar tissue. We present the case because of its rarity from the scar tissue and discuss the condition in terms of differential diagnosis.
