Abstract
Ultrasound (US) is an imaging modality of choice for the thyroid gland and perithyroidal evaluation. The superficial location of the thyroid gland makes the US an ideal imaging modality not only for detailed anatomic assessment but also for procedures such as biopsies, aspirations, and ablations. For a safe and effective US-guided procedure in the neck, knowledge of neck anatomy, particularly that of the nerves, vessels, and other critical structures, is essential.
